Flexible System with Strong Customization, but Mobile Can Be Tricky
Overall, our experience has been solid, and if some of the outstanding issues were resolved, I would rate it even higher. One of the biggest strengths is the ability to easily edit permit types, workflow steps, submittals, inspections, and other processes. This flexibility has allowed us to streamline operations significantly for our stakeholders, including other government agencies we collaborate with. We’ve even shown SmartGov how easily changes can be made, which has improved efficiency across the board.The main challenges come with the mobile interface used by our Building Inspectors in the field. Tablets often experience crashes, and support frequently asks for screenshots, which isn’t always practical at remote job sites. Some issues may also be related to user error given the demographic of inspectors. Additionally, there are a few open engineering issues that have yet to be fully addressed. Despite these challenges, the platform’s customization capabilities make it a valuable tool for our operations.

Flexible and Streamlined System with Room for Mobile Improvements
Our experience with SmartGov has been very positive overall. One of the biggest advantages is the ability to easily edit permit types, steps, submittals, inspections, and workflows, which has made it much easier to implement seamless changes for our stakeholders, including other government agencies. Showing the system to our team and demonstrating how simple edits are has helped us streamline many processes. That said, we do encounter occasional challenges with the mobile interface and tablets used by Building Inspectors in the field, particularly in remote locations where submitting screenshots isn’t practical. Some crashes occur, and a few open issues are still pending with engineering, though these may partly be related to user error. Even so, the system’s flexibility and robust workflow management make it an extremely valuable tool for our operations.

SmartGov Makes Daily Operations Easy and Efficient
Using SmartGov has been a fantastic experience for our team—it’s intuitive, easy to navigate, and really supports our shift toward digital case files. Uploading and managing documents is straightforward, and having everything in one place saves so much time compared to our old paper-based system. I’ve noticed clear improvements over the past couple of years, and the platform keeps getting better, which is encouraging. While there are a few small areas that could be enhanced, like having document previews and more flexible reporting tools, the overall experience is excellent. Customer support is responsive and helpful, and the software genuinely makes daily operations smoother, helping us stay organized and on top of deadlines. I feel confident recommending SmartGov to anyone looking for a reliable, user-friendly solution for managing municipal workflows.

Intuitive and Evolving Platform for Daily Operations
SmartGov has been an excellent tool for our day-to-day operations, and I’ve noticed meaningful improvements over the two years I’ve been using it. The platform is intuitive, making it easy for my department to upload and manage case files as we transition to mostly digital records. Navigation for everyday tasks is straightforward, which keeps our workflow smooth and efficient. A few areas could be improved, such as being able to preview documents instead of downloading each one individually, which would save time for cases with numerous files. Adding a reminder feature in Code Enforcement, similar to Permitting, would also help ensure deadlines aren’t missed. Reporting can be tricky when running reports with specific parameters, often requiring us to export data to another program for analysis. Despite these minor challenges, customer support is responsive, and the software continues to evolve, making it a valuable and reliable tool for managing municipal workflows.
