"Research teams and academic institutions often turn to REDCap when they need a reliable way to collect and manage study data. It works well for clinical and survey research, where data accuracy and organization matter a great deal. Teams can build forms, track responses, and manage records without needing heavy technical support. That said, businesses outside of research or healthcare may find the platform less suited to their day-to-day needs."

My experience has been great—I find the system very organized and easy to use. I especially like the separate logs for medical history, concomitant medications, protocol deviations, and adverse events, with each form having multiple pages to keep data structured and clear. The forms are well-presented, and the outline is easy to follow. The only drawback is that there’s no way to mark a question as a missing answer, which can make it unclear whether the data wasn’t collected or was simply left blank by mistake.
Overall, REDCap is easy to use and very intuitive when designing projects, offering great flexibility for data collection. I particularly appreciate the ability to collect data asynchronously through the mobile app, which is a big help for research assistants working in areas with limited or no internet connectivity. The mobile app has some limitations for more complex projects, and syncing data across multiple users can sometimes be confusing, requiring adjustments to our study workflow. Still, it’s a reliable and efficient tool for managing research data.
