A Strong Patch Management Tool for MSP Needs
We use SolarWinds Patch Manager for all our customers, mainly to handle Windows updates as a managed service provider, and overall we’re very satisfied with it. The dashboard is a big advantage since it gives a clear view of all customers and their machines in one place, which is essential for MSP work. It also handles third-party patching, not just Windows updates, something Microsoft Autopatch doesn’t fully cover. Managing devices from a single portal and the smooth integration with our service desk makes daily work easier. The pricing can feel a bit high, and managing updates sometimes takes longer than expected, but overall it’s a reliable tool that supports our services well.

Comprehensive Patch Coverage from One Central Place
This tool does a great job of providing security patches for both the operating system and third-party software like VLC, which is a big help. It also catches and installs updates that our regular Windows Update service or WSUS often misses. Having a centralized patch repository is very useful, especially when setting up new machines or doing OS resets and upgrades. The main drawback is the cost, as like other SolarWinds products, it can be expensive and may be out of reach for smaller businesses.
