CEO at Local Falcon
This Executive Interview was submitted by the profile owner and published after SoftwareWorld editorial review.

I'm David Hunter, CEO of Local Falcon and founder of Epic Web Studios, a digital marketing agency in Erie, Pennsylvania. I've spent more than 15 years helping businesses understand and improve their online presence. Local Falcon started as a way to answer a question my agency clients kept asking: where do I actually show up when customers search nearby? It maps exactly where a business ranks across a grid of real GPS points, not just a single zip code. Today it has grown into an AI-first, multi-surface visibility platform that tracks how brands appear across AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity and across local search on Google Maps, used by over 125,000 businesses in more than 100 countries.

The core reason was actionability. When I ran my agency, clients would insist they were already number one, but the moment they drove across town their ranking looked completely different. We could show them that with geo-grid data, but early on we were only showing people where they ranked, not why they ranked that way or how to improve. Users would churn after a few months because static ranking data did not give them direction. I built Local Falcon to close that gap and turn visibility data into clear next steps a business can act on.

Most tools stop at reporting a rank. We pinpoint exactly where a business appears using precise latitude and longitude coordinates across a grid, then we layer AI on top of that data. Falcon AI reads ranking patterns across thousands of data points, compares them to competitors, and evaluates the business profile to deliver recommendations specific to that location rather than generic best practices. We also created SoLV, Share of Local Visibility, which measures the percentage of the grid where a business ranks in the top three, so customers can see how much of the map they actually win. The benefit is simple: our customers spend less time guessing and more time making changes that move their visibility.

Local Falcon is industry-agnostic and works for any business that depends on being found locally, from restaurants and retail to healthcare, legal, home services, and automotive. Our users range from single-location SMB stores to agencies and enterprise brands managing thousands of locations. The platform is especially valuable for multi-location and franchise brands, because the differences in visibility from one neighborhood to the next are exactly where the biggest opportunities hide.

The features that set us apart are our geo-grid ranking visualization that shows precise placement across a map, Falcon AI which turns that data into personalized optimization recommendations, and our Model Context Protocol integration that lets Local Falcon work alongside other AI agents. We track visibility across both AI search and traditional local search, including AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity as well as Google Maps, and we back it with competitor, trend, and campaign reporting plus automated scanning.

We use a credit-based model with no contracts and unlimited keywords and locations on every plan, so businesses only pay for the scans they actually run and can start small. The value is in the decisions we enable. Instead of paying a consultant to guess, a business gets a clear map of where it is winning and losing and specific actions to improve, which protects and grows the revenue that comes from local customers. For most of our users, recovering even a few high-intent local searches more than covers the cost.

We are a bootstrapped company, so we follow a build-when-it-matters approach. We developed Falcon AI in-house using open-source models and custom RAG pipelines rather than assembling a large external team. We watch how AI is reshaping search closely. When we saw customers performing well on Google Maps but absent from AI answers, we moved quickly to become an AI-first, multi-surface platform. We also stay close to our users and let real customer needs drive what we build next.

I believe local search will be less about keyword rankings and more about having a structured, trustworthy presence across many AI ecosystems. Over the next 18 months alone I expect a big shift toward agent interoperability and verticalized copilots. My goal is for Local Falcon to be the platform brands rely on to measure and improve their visibility everywhere customers look, whether that is a map, an AI overview, or an autonomous agent acting on their behalf. We are already building toward that with our MCP integration and Falcon Agent.

Local search is inherently mobile, because people search on their phones the moment they need something nearby. Our geo-grid data reflects that real-world, on-the-go behavior by measuring rankings from physical points across an area rather than from a single desktop location. The platform is fully accessible on mobile so our users can run scans and review results from anywhere, and our AI and automation features are designed to surface the few things that matter most, which is especially useful on a small screen.

Trust is everything in our category, so we are deliberate about it. One of our principles is that just because AI can say something does not mean it should, so we built guardrails including structured data inputs and human-first interfaces after learning from early missteps. We verify our users and our data, we pull from official sources like the Google Business Profile, and we keep a human in the loop for anything that acts on a customer's behalf. We handle customer data responsibly and give users full control over what the platform does.

It comes from staying close to our customers and being honest with them. Much of what we build comes directly from listening to the problems agencies and brands bring to us, the same way I learned to listen to clients when running my own agency. We focus on helping people genuinely improve, not just handing them a dashboard, and we support them with education, a knowledge base, and responsive help. Growing to more than 125,000 users without paid ads tells me that word of mouth from happy customers is our strongest channel.

Our biggest challenge was data quality and responsible AI. When we started layering AI on top of our data, we learned that AI exposes the messiness in your own data and processes, and early outputs were not reliable until we fixed the foundation. We overcame it by systematically improving our data pipelines, adding structured inputs and guardrails, and refusing to ship AI features until we trusted them. That discipline is a big reason customers trust our recommendations today.

Local Falcon is an agentic AI search and location intelligence platform that shows brands exactly where they rank across the places customers actually search. It runs geo-grid scans from real GPS points across any service area, mapping AI search and local map pack visibility location by location. Falcon then turns that location data into prioritized actions to improve presence at every point on the map.
