Why SoftwareWorld Chooses Proxmox VE

"Businesses that manage their own servers often turn to Proxmox VE because it keeps virtualization costs low without giving up too much control. IT teams can run virtual machines and containers from a single interface, which makes managing workloads more practical day to day. It works well for companies that prefer open-source tools and have technical staff on hand. That said, smaller teams without dedicated IT support may find the setup and ongoing management a bit challenging."

Proxmox: Powerful Open-Source Virtualization Made Simple

Proxmox is an excellent free, open-source virtualization platform for running virtual machines, and I’ve been using it professionally for several years with outstanding results. Installation and setup are straightforward, and there’s a wealth of guidance available online through YouTube and Reddit. It leverages the ZFS file system, which offers more flexibility and reliability than traditional RAID storage. Integrating a NAS for backups is simple, and both backup and restore processes are extremely easy to manage. Automating nightly backups and installing monthly Proxmox server updates is seamless—just a few clicks in the web interface keeps everything current. I even pay for the subscription to access updates, which has proven well worth it.

Proxmox: Powerful, Cost-Free Alternative to VMware

Overall, I’m very happy with Proxmox and have fully transitioned from a VMware environment to a Proxmox setup, including clustering and all built-in features. You really can’t go wrong, especially considering the platform is free while other solutions charge thousands for similar functionality. It’s a fantastic VMware alternative—flexible, with a simple user interface, and packed with features that are easy to set up and migrate between systems.
